Ok Guys, we listen to our customers and this is a big part of a Kickstarter campaign – getting feedback and getting you involved in shaping the project where possible.
It seems to us that a lot of people would really like to see the second fleet in the core game having new and different designs to the other fleet. As it happens, we already have another fleet designed up and earmarked for the first of the big box fleet expansions – The Othorian Fleet, including all the “special” carriers, dreadnoughts etc, special rules, new scenarios, tokens and a set of 20 new faction specific combat cards. We were going to either drop this in as an optional buy later on in the campaign or save it for the first game expansion next year.
However, we are going to re-purpose this The Othorian fleet as fleet 2 (The Confederation Fleet) in the core game and design up a new Othorian Fleet for next year (my creatives are already rubbing their hands with glee!) so this will not impact much on production timescales. I have slotted in a new stretch goal level at GBP 70k (a whisker away) to drop in the new Confederation fleet into the core game.
To help us get there I have unlocked the Dreadnought Escalation pack as a discounted optional buy at GBP 14.50 (msrp GBP 18). The Dreadnought really is the kick ass daddy of the fleets – big powerful and feared by all. But destroy a Dreadnought and its escort fighters and you rack up a cool 12 victory points. The Dreadnought Escalation Pack includes 2 Dreadnoughts (2 different designs now!), 6 escort fighters, bases for all ships, new rules, tokens and 2 new scenarios.
PLUS…. Not only that, to get the party really started, I have decided to early unlock the Logistics and Space Platform Escalation Pack and give this FREE to all backers (msrp GBP 20). This Escalation Pack includes 8 transport ships and 1 Space Platform in neutral grey (can be used by any faction), new rules and tokens and 4 new scenarios.
